WEEKEND IS HERE…

Let me first of  all thank those who have shown their unalloyed support since we launched our online magazine! Well wishers have been sending in their messages, kind words, tweets, emails, calls, etc. Starting from Mrs Joan Okorodudu, Keppy, Afolake Bello, Kelechi Nduka, Enyinne Owunwanne, BIOSUPR, Cleopatra Idachaba,Tolu “Tols” Onabanjo, Itoro “Quintessential IT”, Mercy Ojukwu, Stewart Osifo and Idara Inyangabia to mention but a few, you guys have shown us your support! If I’m to list all the names, WORDPRESS PEEPS may start charging me money o! But I appreciate y’all inasmuch as I also appreciate my Deputy/Fashion Editor, Nansy Daskalaki – one young lady that’s passionate about fashion and music!

I got an invite for a gig that happened yesterday. Sadly, I couldn’t make it. It was some music event spotlighting Tomi Odunsi (whose birthday was also yesterday) and her pals in the entertainment industry. This weekend, a model friend will be having her birthday gig at QLounge, there’s a SLU…ssh Party, Remy Martin’s Club Party at Auto Lounge, Mimi Lee London and Basketmouth’s Comedy Show on 26th, and then there’s LPM at Get Arena! Already, our weekend is started and we want to see how best we can squeeze out some nice pics for every event attended this weekend. If you are gonna make it to fashion event on the Island, kindly holla at your boy let’s have a “style chat” while observing proceedings!

GUYS, I’M PLEASED TO ANNOUCE TO YOU THAT…

I love challenges (especially those ones that yield results). Every new month comes with its seething challenges. I recently had a chat with Ono Bello, Founder/Style Director at www.OnoBello.com asking her how she copes with the monumental challenges of online media. She told me it is her passion for the job. She’s right. Without the requisite passion, you can’t grapple with the multifarious and multidimensional challenges that come daily!

We at PassionistaHub saved this day to surprise all our readers, followers, adherents and well wishers. When I mentioned the idea to my Deputy/Fashion Editor, Nansy Daskalaki, we got to work immediately. If you read my previous post, I mentioned that the last five (5) weeks have been devastatingly hectic for us. I’m going to tell you why. We were working on a certain project. A project we recently hyped as “12/05/12 @ 12:12:12″. Without much ado, guys I’m pleased to announce to you that as you read this, www.PassionistaHub.com is launched already! It’s a full website STRICTLY into fashion, styles and trends. We’ll stick to our tradition and quality of work (like it were a blogazine)! Our pages include Home, News, Features, Beauty, Fashion, to mention but a few! Check the site out at your leisure!!

It’s weekend already! Recline on your sofas and enjoy a whole new lot of content on the site. There’s something for everyone. There’s a lot to read. There’s a lot to share! There’s a lot to comment. There’s a lot to talk about. Oh, lest I forget, there’s even gossip too! This is going to be an ongoing “project” with its challenges as well. GUYS, ARE YOU ALL READY FOR 12/05/12?

The last five weeks have been very hectic for us at PassionistaHub. At a point some of us were actually falling ill! In spite of ailments, we kept working assiduously to achieve what we’re about to achieve.

Nansy, Deputy/Fashion Editor, PassionistaHub has contributed immensely to the steady growth of the blogazine. So, it was only natural for me to ask her when it was going to be ideal to fix “THE DATE” for… *lips sealed* and she mentioned a couple of dates. We finally agreed on 12/05/12!

So, the question I’d be asking is: GUYS, ARE YOU ALL READY FOR 12/05/12 @ 12:12:12PM? It’s just about three (3) days away! Keep this date in mind guys (and you won’t regret you ever did).
For now, lemme simply wish you all a lovely day at work, school or home!

SAGGING CULTURE: A FASHION FORWARD TREND FOR MEN?

For the ingenuous readers, “sagging” is a style of dressing that involves an individual wearing his/her trousers (usually jeans) below the waist or upper buttocks so as to expose the briefs, boxers or jockstraps. It is predominantly practiced by guys. The female equivalent of sagging is the “whale tail”, so to speak.

I’ve tried to pinpoint the “culprit” of this trend. Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., better-known by his stage name as “Lil Wayne”, isn’t the culprit as most people think. He’s merely a purveyor of the fashion that has been in existence since 1996. Being a sensational and influential Hip/Hop artiste, Lil Wayne has swayed millions of kids and adults worldwide to adopt the sagging culture. Akon, Birdman, Chris Brown, DJ Khalid, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Nas, Wiz Khalifa to mention but a few, have all caught the bug too.

Personally speaking, I don’t hate it when guys indulge in sagging. But if one must sag, it should be decent enough just like the way Beckham does. Don’t sag to the middle of your buttocks. When it goes too low, it makes one look like a tout. Also, the boxers or jockstraps must be neat and snazzy. Another important issue is your belt. The belt should be leather, unspiked and properly kempt. People out there feel that sagging shows how bland guys can be in name of fashion! But if yours is done decently, these people can live with it.

There are Anti-Sagging Laws in Florida and other U.S.A states (details were sketchy as at the time this post was published). Wearing of low-slung jeans isn’t a fashion ish for everyone. I know ladies out there feel it reeks of crass indecency to sag one’s jeans. They are right to some extent especially going by the pictures in this post!

In all of these, does this trend apply to men out there? Is it trendy to sag your jeans? Well, let’s hear from ladies if they’d like their men dressed like Lil Wayne, Chris Brown or Kanye West. Oh, even our very own, Wizkid and Saucekid!

DENTAL TIPS FOR LADIES

Hello ladies, in my opinion as a beautician, the best make up accessory is a great smile. And to have a great smile, you need to take good care of your teeth. Hope you enjoy the post that follows.

You can achieve this clean, white teeth too!

BRUSH YOUR TEETH
This must be done thoroughly at least twice a day for two minutes each time. Make sure you brush on all sides of your teeth and get your tongue. You can ask your dentist(s) for a demonstration. It is best to do this before you go to bed, as your mouth does not have the same salivary protection when you are sleeping.

FLOSS
You also need to use dental floss as it helps to clean plaque between your teeth

USE MOUTH WASH
Find a fluoride mouthwash (emphasis on fluoride). Fluoride mouthwashes help to strengthen tooth enamel. For ladies with kids, teach them between the age of six and twelve good rinsing skills to prevent swallowing. For every fluoride oral product you buy, learn to follow the directions on the bottle or packet as the case may be.

VISIT YOUR DENTIST
This should happen at least every six months and every time that you have a problem with your teeth. Schedule a professional cleaning with a registered dental hygienist. Like someone noted in a website, “visit the dentist twice a year and be an ‘informed health care consumer’ and pay attention to what is going on”.
Be at liberty to to ask your dental hygienist any probings at each visit! They won’t bite you.

FURTHER TIPS
-Use teeth whitening products so make your teeth whiter and stronger.
-Whenever you wear lipstick, be sure to use a clear gloss over it to make your teeth appear whiter.
