I prepared this post while playing Akon’s “Sunny Day” in the background. It’s another beautiful sunny morning and guess what? Yellow is now trending as a colour in fashion circles! During Spring/Summer 2012 shows, this colour was a muse for designers like Alberta Ferretti, Bill Blass, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Oscar de la Renta and Versace, to mention but a few. Recently, a few celebs caught the trend and started the New Year on a bright note.

Yellow is a hue that suits most skin tones, hairstyles and body types. But here’s the trick. As a dark complexioned lady, try out lighter shades of yellow like: amber, cream, yellow proper or jasmine. For ladies with lighter skin tones, a deeper shade like mustard, olive, citrus or yellow proper too, will be sexy on you! Depending on the individual, hairstyles can be worn to your taste, while accessories may include anything gold, silvery, green-yellow or lemon in clutch purses and pumps.
Pearls could work well too. But note: If you’re trying on a strapless number, make sure your skin is flawless (like Yvonne’s). Also, wearing a neckpiece on a strapless, monostrap or asymmetrical dress won’t be necessary! Many ladies err in this style aspect.
So it’s another sunny day, I hope someone out there will catch some “yellow fever” and try out a trendy yellow dress for service this morning!
