I once spotted a lady wearing lustrous red lips, red dress, red clutch and sporting red pumps. With due respect, this kind of picture doesn’t just sit well if you’re having a date! Caution must be taken into consideration when dressing as your beau may want to see that diva in you. Ladies should avoid what I call an “overkill”. Tolu Onabanjo, who incidentally is a Lagos-based fashion stylist and lawyer recently shared some tips with PassionistaHub on how ladies can dazzle in red for tonight’s date.
-Avoid going all red tonight. The colour: red is symbolic in many respects and should be used sparingly
-Pairing a red top with denim jeans is ideal if you want to have a smart casual look.
-Still on smart casual look, a lady could pair her red top + denims with lovely slippers or sandals to give that extra edge to it. The red top can be worn with brooches to the side or nice chucky neckpiece that brings out the entire outfit making her look laidback but sexy as well!
-For a red boob tube corset gown, a lady could wear a gorgeous necklace alone to set off the red dress.
-Choice of accessories may include: gold neckpiece, a red box clutch, red hairband, chandelier earrings, bracelet, red colour-blocked handbag, white pumps with red heart-shaped detail in front, etc. Note: all these shouldn’t be worn together.
-As for her hairstyle, let it be in an updo style to add glam to the whole look if she’s going for a formal date tonight. If it’s smart casual, she can let her hair/weave/braids down to give it that simple, yet demure look.
-It’s important to make red the “focal point”; you can achieve this by accessorizing rightly rather than indulging in an “overkill” of red. However, in all of these, don’t forget to get your lips red!
So ladies, Valentine’s Day is here again! Be “red alert” when shopping for anything red.
Wishing you all lovely Val celebrations!
