Make-up doesn’t last forever. And since it is so expensive, caring for it properly will certainly extend its lifespan. However, you should also know when to say good-bye. Here are a few tips.
STORE IT RIGHT
Keep all make-up products in a cool, dry place; not on a bathroom shelf where the warm, damp air will destroy it. Never let make-up melt in a beach bag or freeze in a car, since the emulsification will break down.
This will prevent your product from having that smooth and luscious consistency.
KEEP IT CLEAN
Even the best tools don’t perform well if they’re dirty. Ideally, synthetic brushes should be clean every day. I apply a gentle eye-makeup remover. Almost any one will do. For your bristles, wipe them clean with a paper towel and wash them with a basic facial soap and water.
In a pinch, an antibacterial wipe works too. (These are also great for quick cleaning when you want to switch shades)
This will save pencils from looking gnawed. If the tip is really soft, refrigerate it in your deep freezer for half an hour after which you sharpen it.
The sniff test is the best way to know if something is past its prime. If you get a hint of anything funky in a lipstick or creamy product, toss it into the nearest bin. The same goes for nail polish and foundation that remain separated after you’ve shaken them. Don’t stockpile mascara. Use it right after you buy it and replace it every three months.
Also, know the following tips:
-When your mascara is finished, please don’t pour water in the tube. Simply discard it.
-If you notice any of your make-up products is irritating, especially your eyes and lips, throw it away as well.
-Always change or wash your make-up purse or bag and dry properly. When it smells, you could get rid of it and buy a new one.
