September signals epoch-making period of the year in fashion circles. Apart from ushering the Fall season, the month sees the launch of new fragrances, beauty and skin care products from top fashion houses. Also, fashion weeks are rampant in September, even as we face endemic competition amongst fashion editors of top fashion magazines. Talking of fashion weeks, New York Fashion Week 2012 is coming up in few days! The likes of Ozwald Boateng, Maki Oh, Tiffany Amber and a crop of other designers from AMFW 2012 will be featured. Debutante designer Katie Holmes will be showing on the same day with iconic British designer Victoria Beckham! We’ll endeavour to bring you all the gist!

If you recall, in August we featured our model of the month in the person of Cynthia Chisom. She’s one very intelligent, passionate and talented model who pursued her academics with with equal fervour. With four (4) degrees and counting, we couldn’t help but celebrate her sterling achievements! Last night, she tweeted us and we’re really proud of her wherever she is!
Just in case you missed it, you could read the feature on Cynthia here and even our recent interview with celebrity model Menaye Donkor. So as September unfolds, who will be our “Model of The Month”? Time will tell in a couple of days.

For an event that has the backing of world’s biggest cosmetic brand, L’OREAL amongst others, Nigeria’s Next Super Model 2012 will see StyleMania Magazine (Nigeria’s version of VOGUE) sponsor the event, which is undoubtedly Africa’s biggest model search.
Regarding the sponsors, the brief available to us states:
“…going by the major sponsors this year, L’Oreal Paris and sponsorship coming from Nigeria’s answer to Vogue, StyleMania magazine, it has become a thing of joy to see this brand (NNSM) waxing this strong. From watching the girls from this show jet setting the world it was not a surprise to see that the biggest cosmetic company in the world L’Oreal Paris with its mega brands like Dark and Lovely and Maybelline New York have indicated that both brands will be used to sponsor this show.
Mania has become the magazine that Nigerian models look up to to do their model books. Dimeji Alara, the Editor of the said magazine will be a judge in the house and at the grand finale and of course bringing a wealth of experience to the show. Nigerians will be seeing this show on international and local TV stations.”
With former Miss World 2001, Agbani Darego as the global spokesperson for L’Oreal brand, we hope to have many young female models in Nigeria aspire to the zenith of their respective careers.
As the iconic magazine joins L’ Oreal Paris as a topnotch sponsor, NNSM 2012 is set to be the mother of all models shows in Nigeria this year.

Talking of bags, DOT, a fashion house recently released its 2012 Collections, christened: “Summer Candies”. There’s a post on the Collection for you to check it out at your leisure. We have a reason for bringing this up. We’ll let you guys know later.
